What I've learned
Well, its been a great quarter! This is my final blog post for this class, so time to wrap things up. Web Marketing has been a fun class and I have learned alot. I've learned the web marketing is more than just some banners or buttons. It's all about the conversation and the dialogue between the consumer and the business.

Extra! Extra!
Sex and The CIty 2 is officially out! Woot woot! The girls were sporting quite a lot of nOir jewelry, my favorite was the necklace Samantha wore with for the opening of Sam's movie. It is so pretty, they are going to make a copy for sell and I can't wait to own it! Miley Cyrus was also wearing nOir and i think there were a couple of scenes where they were wearing the studded bracelets.
I took a picture from their facebook with the two pieces, OMG!!

Shopping Spree!
I love unlimited budgets! I have been given a grand to spend on this companies products. What will I buy? Everything! I am going to try and utilize that fake 1,000 a make it go as far as possible. I will spend it on items that I have been lusting after for a very long time, and I will make sure and splurge on a few items as well.
5 Dollars to spare!!!

Sample Sale!!
This week I am allowed to post about anything I want..... Where to begin??
nOir just had a sample sale in NY this past week. Of course I was unable to attend and was updating my twitter every 5 min for some reports on how it was doing. I was super bummed that the sale could be online as well, because I would have bought everything. ALl the feedback I saw was great, everyone was so excited about the sale but I did see some kind of shocking information about the prices still being a little expensive. I guess that I assumed when a company has a sample sale that means that the product is severely discounted. Call me crazy, but if you're trying to move merch, mark it down!!! If thats the case, I didn't miss anything, and I'm better off sticking to Gilt and Ideeli for cheap finds.
Haha - I love the cat. Anyways, from what I've been reading the event was a huge success non the less. And I guess people are still willing to spend the cash-ola on their product, which is good. And if I were there I probably would too.
On another note, I have really been interested in doing an internship with nOir. After reading their own blog and their facebook page and twitter, it seems that they really value their interns. This company works with a lot of different companies and there is a lot of hands on experience which is awesome. I could learn so much from them, and so many great contacts could be made. I need to look into this further!!!

Competition!!!
For me nOir jewelry doesn't have any competition. Yeah, there are tons of designers that make costume jewelry covered with jewels but they all start to look the same. So below I have listed a couple of designers who are comparable to nOir.
Joomi Lim:
Pros:
They use great colors and have a wide range of looks
Good quality
Cons:
Some of their jewelry is a little gaudy and the price point is pretty steep.
Ranjana Khan:
Pros:
Awesome Jewelry - Large and costume-y
Can be found at local retailers
Cons:
Price Point

Let's make things Better
5 weeks down people!! Only 6 more to go!
This assignment is going to be harder than I thought! They already do tons of celebrity collaborations such as the one for the Keith Haring Foundation. The are used for many a music video like Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Rhianna, Beyonce, and Miley Cyrus' Can't Be Tamed Video. They are used for multiple ad campaigns like the one with Lady Gaga for Mac and the Milk Campaign. Noir just did a collaboration with Conde Nast for their Traveler's magazine and they created the feathered Headdresses. They have a blog and thier online store is fully functional, as well as sample sales, promotions and give-aways.
Since they have such a following with more of the celebrities and editors, stylists and photographers, I want to focus more on the everyday consumer. Those who would be interested but they just don't know about their product. So
1) One idea that I have is for a collaboration with Style.com, they have a huge following and nOir would be able to reach out to even more people. FOr this collaboration they would provide style.com viewers with nOir jewelry , any collection the viewer wanted whether it be the Keith Haring collection or the animal rings, etc. They are allowed to be the creative directors for a photo shoot. Using whatever collection, background, models, clothing and camera they want. In order to be given these, they have to be a registered user of Style.com, 18 or older, and they have to fill out an extensive questionnaire in order to qualify. Their will be 5 winners and those winners will have their photos published on Style.com as well as on nOir's blog. The winners will also receive 3 pieces of jewelry from the collection they chose to keep.
2) nOir has such a creative edge on a lot of their competitors and since they are known for making great costume jewelry, I want to do a brand extension. Why not eyeglasses? Take a million dollars and create 2 to 3 different style. Only have a small amount of each created to have as a soft sell and see how well they do. With the profit created, if their is one, they can put more on the assembly line and have them mass produced.
3) nOir doesn't advertise outside of their website and blog. They let their jewelry speak for itself and rely on their collaborations with other advertisers and celebrities as well as the stores and boutiques that carry them to sell their merchandise. A small ad campaign could be a nice addition. nOir could do a small photo shoot thats really edgy and eye catching, only showing one or two of their products. Put those into ads in only a couple of magazines like Vogue, W, InStyle. I think it would be good for them to keep their advertisements to a small number as a way to create interest. What is this company? What do they sell? Along with those, have online links on Style.com and the magazines websites, with links to their website.
4) I first heard about nOir through Anthropologie. I saw one of their rings, a cute litlte Elephant and had to have it. I looked online for more of their products and found their website. Since then I have been in love! ( Very dramatic I know) As a way to appeal to a broader audience, I think that nOir should do an exclusive collection specifically for Anthropologie. Their client loves clothing that is unique and not mass produced, they like clothing that has a personality and can be either really girl and romantic to really artsy with bright colors. Its a perfect partnership for nOir.

Let's get digital...digital!
Get it?
Anyways,
nOir jewelry does a great job using digital technology to promote their brand. Their web site is fully functional and easy to move around. You can see their complete collection as well as their prices and it is easy to buy online! In conjunction with their web site, they manage a blog that lets their fans in one what they are currently up to. They upload ads and music videos where their jewelry has been used and let you know of any collaborations that are in the makes. All this information given to the consumer builds interests and keeps them coming back to their site. I love going on their website and blog and seeing the newest additions and what all they have been working on.
On their blog they allow comments to be made about their posts. This is a good resource for them to listen to what their customer wants and what they are interested in. I wish that people would utilize it more. I also wish that they would update their blog more.
If i working for nOir I would market more to mainstream consumers. I would bring more attention to the blog and really make sure that they utilized the comments sections, see what the consumer loves the most and what we could do better.

Product Description
Leeora Catalan created nOir Jewelry about 14 years ago after working with a couple of clothing designers Ralph Lauren and Oscar De La Renta. You may have heard of them? Leeora creates statement pieces that are one of a kind and each one has a personality of their own. nOir jewelry ranges anywhere from quirky animal rings like my personal favorite Goldie the Elephant, to Brian the Buddha shown above and are slathered in CZ's. nOir also carries spiked rings and bracelets that are a girls best friend and are bound to take any sleazy guy's eye out if necessary. The newest additions are a collaboration with Patricia Fields for the Keith Haring foundation.
nOir's price range is anywhere from $25 for a small studded earring to $300 for a fabulous spiked bracelet. They can be found in Anthropologie and other specialty boutiques as well as on the bodies of Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Katy Perry and many more. They can also be seen in ads for MAC make up, Milk Campaign, music videos, etc.
nOir doesn't really do your typical advertisements, they have been featured on QVC before but the majority of their advertisement is through word of mouth, celebrities and specialty boutiques. I have been following nOir around for about 2 years now, and what I love is that they don't come out with a different line for each season, they keep signature pieces and build off that. Their quality is awesome, and there is no variation of the picture online to what you get in the mail. I personally own Goldie the Elephant and I am in love with it. Whenever I wear it I get tons of compliments. One downfall is that they don't have a lot of sales, they may have a sample sale, but never in my neck of the woods. : ( That would be nice. It may be kind of pricey, but its worth the purchase if you're looking for something that's unique and fun.
